The Main Learning Objectives
To distinguish between stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA) and compare the prevalence of both of them
To recognize the etiologies and the clinical characteristics, risk factors for acute ischemic stroke
To describe the clinical features and neuroanatomical localization of the deep cortical stroke syndromes (pure motor hemiplegia, pure sensory stroke) and based on the 3 major cerebral vessels
To identify common laboratory tests and imaging studies for immediate evaluation of acute stroke
To describe the general approach to treatment of acute ischemic stroke and discuss the secondary prevention
To describe the signs and symptoms of a hemorrhagic stroke from its differential diagnosis
